Emma Willard is an all-girl school located in Troy, NY, near [http://www.rpi.edu/ RPI]. The town is kinda small and historical, downtown is very beautiful ka. (It takes 15-20 mins to walk from the school to downtown Troy, and about 30 mins drive to Albany.)

== Pros ==
 +
1. The campus is '''very beautiful''' kaa.

2. Most of the teachers knew Thai Scholar and are very helpful in both understanding what we are going through and college processes.
 +
 +
3. Girl school environment, which is so much more casual and relaxing than co-ed (personal opinion), no dress code, OK leggings/ shorties/ no-bra to classes etc..
 +
 +
4. Only 10 weeks of movement requirement!! No sport while working on common app!! (if you don't want to, of cause)
 +
 +
5. Revels. Seniors' play that we participate. Awesome.
 +
 +
6. SAT testing center and free transportation to TOEFL (45 mins away in Albany)
 +
 +
7. There are usually some Thai students other than you. (5 this year including me) [https://www.dek-d.com/studyabroad/42721/ We even have an ad in Dek-D]
 +
 +
== Cons ==
 +
1. No boy.
 +
 +
2. No meeting with other TS regularly, as we are quite far away from people. But there are chances.
 +
 +
3. No whatever fee waiver unless you ask for it (which I didn't, so I ended up paying for all the test and application fees)
 +
 +
4. The textbooks are expensive and you need to buy them. OEA's book expense does not cover all of them.
 +
 +
5. The campus is so beautiful I can't stop taking picture of every single thing.
 +
 +
== Facts ==
 +
1. Study hall is not strictly enforced for us PG, there are some homework helpers (teachers, peers) during that time but you can basically do whatever you want.
 +
 +
2. There is a weekly resident hall activity where we gather around as a hall for snacks and games, it is pretty fun.
 +
 +
3. If you want a single room, ask for it. There are far more single rooms than double/triple in the main dorm so you will have it. (I have a single and it is greeaat!)
 +
 +
4. The adults here have been very helpful for me, especially the adviser whom you'll meet with once a week, house parent, and college counselor. Mr. Jones, the counselor, has been working with a lot of TS so he knows the program quite well.
 +
 +
5. There is a Thai restaurant that does delivery called Sadudee. The delicious one is about 45 mins away called Sri-siam.
 +
 +
== Academic ==
 +
School hours are from 8am-3.20pm, Wednesday from 8:45am-2:05pm. You normally have 2-3 days a week that start after 8am.
 +
 +
Lots of AP courses to choose, usually small class size <18 girls, the normal workload is 30 mins per class under "Homework is to be finished during study hall" motto. The school offers a number of courses. (Science courses are real interesting -- there are Neuroscience, Astrobiology, and Forensic offered!!!) [https://www.emmawillard.org/sites/emmawillard.org/files/2017-2018CourseOfferings.pdf Here is next year's catalog]
 +
 +
These are some comments on the courses I am taking this year:
 +
 +
- AP Biology: kinda challenging material, homework due on test days so no daily homework
 +
 +
- AP Chemistry: FRIDAY NIGHT LAB which is FUN! 30-45 mins homework almost every class day
 +
 +
- AP Calculus AB: Precalc-basic calculus, I'm not so good at Math but I understand the materials.
 +
 +
- Requirements: US History and English (I take English 3, juniors') Fun!
 +
 +
 +
Language and Art classes are great, too, or so I have heard.
 +
 +
== Activities ==
 +
Lots of clubs to join, lots of sports to play, there is Physical Education for those who, like me, does not enjoy competitive sports. There is a lot of options for choir and group music, browse the school website for more details: https://www.emmawillard.org/
